School children from Westholme School based in Blackburn travelled to Cumbria to visit Playdale Playgrounds manufacturing factory.

The Haverthwaite based Playground company invited the Year Two children from Westholme to show how their playground is made.

They had the opportunity to learn about the materials and methods used to create the final product which will be installed at their school in May.

This is the first visit for a school to Playdale since covid restriction were lowered, with all the staff being available to showcase all elements of the production process.

As part of the tour, the children were able to experience the new play equipment in the outdoor prototype area.

Barry Leahey MBE, CEO of Playdale said “We are thrilled to see the kids return to the factory to learn about the manufacturing process, which is a unique experience we offer to schools and any of our customers who purchase our play equipment.”

Susan Barrett from Westholme said “The children had an amazing experience and were buzzing on our return to school with comments like…’that was best trip ever!’  and ‘I want to work at Playdale when I grow up!’. The staff are great at answering the children’s question and making us feel welcome. We can’t wait to see our new play equipment!
