Wicksteed recently had the pleasure of welcoming Tom Hayes, MP for Bournemouth East, to our Kettering headquarters for an in-depth tour of our British manufacturing facilities. During his visit, Tom met with members of our team across the factory floor, gaining first-hand insight into the craftsmanship, innovation and care that go into creating our inclusive, high-quality play equipment.
From timber cutting and steel fabrication to our finishing and assembly areas, Tom experienced the full end-to-end process — and saw the human touch that underpins everything we make. His visit also included a filmed interview, where he discussed the Government’s recent announcement of £18 million to improve 200 playgrounds in the country’s most deprived areas.
Tom spoke about the importance of investing in safe, accessible spaces that allow every child to play, learn and thrive — a mission Wicksteed has championed for nearly 150 years. He also highlighted the essential role British manufacturers play in delivering durable, inclusive and community-focused play environments.
We are proud to support this vision and remain committed to designing and manufacturing play spaces that bring joy to children across the UK for generations to come.
