New API Executive Team to Champion the Future of Play

Following a vote at the API Annual General Meeting on 23 April, members agreed that all nine nominees will take up positions on the Executive Board of the Association of Play Industries (API).

The newly formed group brings together representatives from the UK’s leading play providers, each contributing a wealth of experience in design, manufacturing, installation and advocacy for high-quality play environments.

As the leading UK trade body for the play industry, the API champions the work of its members, highlighting the quality, creativity and impact of the play spaces they deliver throughout the UK. At the heart of this is a shared belief in the importance of play and its lifelong benefits for children’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, learning and social development.

API Chair, Dr Amanda Gummer, says:

“In a sector facing ongoing challenges, including funding pressures and the need to safeguard children’s access to play, the Executive play a key role in strengthening API’s voice with policymakers and partners. Their focus will be on ensuring that the value of play is recognised and prioritised in decisions that shape communities.

“The Association of Play Industries remains committed to raising standards, influencing policy and supporting our members to deliver safe, inclusive and inspiring play environments.”

With the new Executive in place, the API is well-positioned to build on its momentum and continue championing both the play sector and the vital role of play in every child’s life.
