Wicksteed – por favor!

Wicksteed Playscapes is in the last stages of completing a huge contract in the Province of Pontevedra in northwest Spain.  Although there has been a strong Wicksteed presence in Spain for many years, this order will serve to prove the company’s international capabilities still further.

Wicksteed had been working with the Pontevedra authorities for 18 months before the award.  In terms of the number of sites, this is probably the largest single play equipment contract in Europe ever, with almost 200 play areas installed in 62 local authorities, with an overall value of six million euros.

Spanish customers tend to favour wood as a material for their playground equipment, so the choice of products was essentially from the Wicksteed Playscapes’ Woodland range.  The customer needed play equipment to blend with rural settings but equally to be sufficiently rugged for urban environments.   The Woodland range uses laminated pine timber sourced from sustainable forests, which is both attractive and durable.
 
The provincial authorities took the interesting step of limiting the choice of equipment in order to deploy the maximum number of sites in the shortest possible time frame and at a much lower cost than normally possible with individual site studies.  Nevertheless, children from all age ranges have been well catered for, and their new play areas now proudly boast a variety of multi-play systems, swings, slides and springies all of which are guaranteed to keep the kids fit, active and thoroughly entertained.
