Trio of awards brings joy to Essex kids

Children from an Essex village will benefit from brand new play equipment after the local council won a hat trick of awards – including a £350 voucher from Wicksteed Playscapes.

Danbury Parish Council won first prize in the ‘Children’s Playground’ category of the Best Kept Playing Fields Competition, organised by the Essex Playing Fields Association (EPFA), after rigorous inspection by a panel of judges.

It’s been a good end to a great year for the village, which has won three awards in three competitions, including Best Kept Village.

Margaret Saunders, clerk at Danbury Parish Council, said: “We were absolutely ecstatic to win the voucher and can’t wait to sit down with Wicksteed and decide what we can buy from their latest product book.”

Malcolm Webb, Director of EPFA, said: “We’re delighted that Wicksteed has been able to support our competition for the last four years. £350 means a lot to our winners, especially a small parish council who have limited budget for playgrounds – and the prize makes a hell of a difference.”
