Thorpe-Le-Soken’s New Play Area
Thorpe-le-Soken village recently saw the grand opening of their long awaited new play area at Lady Nelson Playing Field by Miracle Design & Play Ltd. The local residents turned out in overwhelming force for the event and as a community had taken a massive interest in the design and delivery of their new play area.

Miracle were one of a number of play companies asked to produce a design for the site and work in conjunction with the Parish Council as well as Tendring District Council. After several different designs, presentations to the Council and a lengthy consultation, Miracle were selected to proceed and implement the design.
Our design was based on extensive consultation with the local community and embraced the needs of the users. Two distinct zones within the play area offer opportunities for ages 2-6 and 7-14 year olds. A fantastic range of equipment offers inclusive play for all with everything from basket swings, double springer’s, a toddler play unit and rotators for toddler and teens to a giant play unit attached to a 4m high space net! All products included in the play space were a result of suggestions by the local kids with the “must have” item being the 25m long zip line!
“Throughout the whole tendering process Miracle pulled out all the stops to ensure they were delivering the exact project that was laid out to them in the brief” Daniel Land – Thorpe-Le-Soken Parish Council, Vice Chairman

The opening ceremony saw a number of local dignitaries say a few kind words including Vivien Chapmen (Vice Chairman of Tendring District Council) and Brian Healy (Chairman of Thorpe-le-Soken Parish Council). Andy Steel of Miracle Design and Play also said a quick thank you to all the local residents for their input and one lucky young lady then got to cut the ribbon and officially open the site.
The highlights of the event included free children’s face painting provided by Miracle as well as Cllr Daniel Land volunteering for the sponsored “gunge-tank” and getting splattered by all sorts of goo!
The whole event was a real pleasure to be a part of and was possibly the biggest and best organised openings we have attended. A big thanks to Cllr Daniel Land and the local community.
