Designer and manufacturer of children’s playground equipment, Sutcliffe Play, has launched www.sutcliffeplaydirect.co.uk, its first e-commerce website enabling customers to purchase the company’s range of swing seats and seat spares.
As a leading manufacturer of swing seats Sutcliffe Play is proud to be designing and producing all of its equipment from its purpose built factory in Yorkshire.
In the 1970’s Robin Sutcliffe, now Chairman of Sutcliffe Play noticed that the number of accidents of children being hit by rigid swings was on the increase as more playgrounds were being built in the UK.
Sutcliffe Play set about developing a safety seat which launched in 1976. The seat used the engineering properties of rubber by combining high levels of shock absorption with durability. Extensive research with The Franklin Institute Research Laboratories in Philadelphia and the Rubber & Plastics Research Association of Great Britain followed where the seat was found to absorb the energy of any impact. It even appeared on the BBC’s TV Programme Tomorrow’s World.
This patented technology is now used across many of Sutcliffe Play’s seat designs which have been modified over the years to enhance safety and play value.
As part of the launch Sutcliffe Play is unveiling its latest swing seat development – the new inclusive Rubber Nest Swing Seat is designed like a bird’s nest to enable several children of all abilities to play together. It benefits from all Sutcliffe Play’s safety features which have been developed over the years and it is EN1176 certified.
Andy Love, Sales Director at Sutcliffe Play says: “Sutcliffe Play’s reputation for being an innovator has been developed over the years and the launch of Sutcliffe Play Direct is the next natural step.
“We’re committed to providing customers with first class customer service. Sutcliffe Play Direct allows customers to purchase from us at any time of the day.
“Having developed and patented our first seat back in 1976 – you know you’re benefiting from our many years of research, knowledge and expertise!”
