Last week, in a bid to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund, the staff at Nottingham’s Proludic donned their best 1940s inspired outfits and held a Great British Sunday Lunch during their lunch hour!

Inspired by other recent events that have taken place in homes and pubs across the country the staff at Proludic enjoyed an afternoon of games, food and fancy dress raising a fantastic £350 for the charity.

Proludic works in partnership with the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare charity, providing exciting playground equipment on key RAF stations across the country, as part of the charity’s youth support programme Airplay.

Airplay is the RAF Benevolent youth support programme for children and young people growing up on or near RAF Stations and operates on all main RAF bases across the UK. As part of this project, the Fund commissions Proludic to design and supply the equipment for the play parks.

The programme aims to address some of the issues that RAF families face, such as living in isolated areas, by giving children access to brand new facilities along with a safe and stimulating programme of activities.

The money raised from the Great British Sunday Lunch will go towards supporting the vital work the RAF Benevolent Fund does to support the whole RAF family, from the youngest child on an RAF station, to RAF veterans living in retirement. Last year the RAF Benevolent Fund spent over £20 million helping more than 60,000 members of the RAF family with financial, practical and emotional support.

Mike Neville, Director of Fundraising at the RAF Benevolent Fund said: “The RAF Benevolent Fund receives no routine Government funding, so events like the Great British Sunday Lunch are essential to enable us to carry out the work we do.

“Our brilliant supporters have held some truly inspiring lunches this year, and it’s so great to see Proludic getting involved with their 1940s inspired event. We are truly grateful.”

Rob Baker, Managing Director at Proludic, said: “We were so pleased to get involved in the RAF Benevolent Fund’s national campaign this year. Hosting a Great British Sunday Lunch at the office was our way of showing support to the RAF’s leading welfare charity and highlight the important work they do.”
