Abbey Park, Evesham
This client requested an embankment slide on an existing south facing slope. Due to its southern prospect this could be dangerous. The heat of the sun would force it to become unusable in summer months so we built a tube slide underground; utilising the natural form of the slope. The area designed was a small part of a much 

larger scheme designed by the local authority.

Johnston Gardens - Aberdeen City Council
Russell Play were asked by Aberdeen City Council to make   additions to the existing inner city park of Johnston Gardens in Aberdeen. The budget was set at the outset and the client was clear about which particular area of the park they wanted to add to. Russell Play had to devise something to fit that requirement.

 Wildwood Park
 Wicksteed have extensive experience in providing large  public  play  areas which offer a range of play experiences  for toddlers  through  to  teenagers  on the same site. Our  most recent and  exciting example is the project at  Wildwood Park for Stafford  Borough Council. This huge  scheme required  Wicksteed to  undertake a consultation,  design and build contract to provide a  play space for all  ages and abilities.

Welcome to the Jungle - Woking Park Play Area

When the newly redesigned Woking Park play area was officially opened it was a sunny, clear Saturday morning and many local residents turned out to see the unveiling of their exciting new jungle themed play park. A crowd of running and cheering children were first through the gate when the ribbon was cut to experience the fun of their new playground equipment for the first time.

Crossley Park Splashpad, Ripley
The old paddling provided the footprint for the new Splashpad. There is a Toddler bay with a cascading water feature and a shallow splash pool for the younger children. A variety of water play features; water tunnels, spray arch, aqua flowers, jet streams provide a challenging and entertaining water play experience for all ages. The scheme is a ‘once used’ system with a grey water tank to collect and re-use the water from the Splashpad, either in the park or around the borough.

Hawthorne drive gets new outdoor gym and play area
HAGS SMP coordinated the installation of an inclusive recreational space within Alanbrooke Barracks in North Yorshire in collaboration with key local actors. Children of all ages and abilities can delight in the new play tower and trim trail, while their parents congregate at the picnic area.

Coronation Park, Bridgewater
Sedgemoor District Council wanted to create a destination park for Bridgwater, creating a flagship playground for the town. The existing park was a large flat open space, popular among dog walkers, with two small fenced play areas. Sutcliffe Play South West was awarded the contract to replace the existing dilapidated playground with an exciting range of new play zones. This included an enclosed area for toddlers, an open plan area for juniors and teenagers, and a robust outdoor gym for the community.

Cuthill Park, a park for the entire community

East Lothian Council put a tender out for a play area in Prestonpans. They were looking for a playground made with natural components, with separate play zones for toddlers, older children, seating, picnic areas and space for community events. We decided to go for it as we were confident that our timber range (supplied by FHS Holtztechnik) would perfectly suit the brief of the project.

Haddo Country Park Play Area, Aberdeenshire Council
Russell Play was asked by Aberdeenshire Council to tender for the design and build of a new play area within Haddo Country Park. The Council approached Russell Play specifically as they were impressed by an Award winning play area Russell Play had created at Duthie Park for neighbouring Aberdeen City Council.

 Tamworth Farm Recreation Centre Splashpad
The new Splashpad at Tamworth has a large variety of water play features with a small splash pool for the toddlers incorporated into the design. The splashpad boasts the first installation of the new ‘Spider’ play feature from Vortex. A multifunctional feature, fostering collaborative play and cooperation. With 8 jet spray ground activators to control the jets in the legs and head, children interact with the creature and learn the cause & effect of their actions.

Keeping fit at Queens Park in Bolton!
The popularity of our new outdoor fitness range has  found its way to Queens Park, Bolton and is proving a big  hit with the local community. To accommodate the      communities demand, this fitness kit has been installed  adjacent to the fitness equipment which was installed last  year. This has doubled the area in size - a great way to play and work out in the fresh air!

Drapers Field, Leyton, London
The new park at Drapers Field, Leyton, serves the Olympic Village projects. Formerly a service facility for the 2012 Olympics, Drapers Field was redesigned by Kinnear Landscape Architects (KLA) as a vibrant community space, improving sport and play provision and encouraging more children into activity both play and sport.

Rearsby Jubilee Play Park
Persistence was key for a parish council in Rearsby as their determination was finally rewarded with funding for a new play area, delighting everyone in the community. Rearsby Jubilee Play Park, Leicestershire, now have an exciting new play area thanks to the hard work of their local play park committee, in particular Janette Jones who is the Chair of the Parish Council and lead person for the play park committee.

Orchard Meadow Natural Play Area, Spelthorne, Sunbury on Thames, Surrey
Russell Play was awarded a tender by Spelthorne Borough Council, to create a natural play area in one of the borough’s most attractive green spaces situated next to the river Thames. The play area was to be placed next to the wooded fringe of Orchard Meadow, an area that forms part of the larger Sunbury Park in the town of Sunbury-on-Thames.

Waltham Forest, London
eibe’s most diversified project over the last year helped us to achieve our Green World Ambassador status for 2015. The recognition came as a result of the environmental success of our Walthamstow Regeneration scheme entitled “Eastmenders”, which also won a Green Apple Award. The project featured 14 individual sites.

Llandough hospital installs outdoor gym
A new outdoor gym has opened for staff, patients and visitors at University Hospital Llandough in Cardiff, as part of a comprehensive programme to promote regular physical activity by improving access to sports facilities. The equipment was used during a “work out at work” day organised by the hospital and the physiotherapist team is planning to set up a series of workout sessions.

Historically themed play park in picturesque village of Culross
Russell Play was awarded a tender to create a new design to rejuvenate an existing play park in the historic and picturesque village of Culross, situated on the estuary of the river Forth, in Fife. A group of local residents, the Culross Community Group, wanted to get rid of the old play equipment and layout and install something new and exciting for the children of the village.

'Dinosaur Island' is a brand new adventure play area for Horsham Country Park. The previously run-down recreation space now features an array of fantastic play equipment, special effects such as an active volcano, red hot lava flows, a tar quagmire, a dinosaur swamp and a prehistoric jungle.

Marine Parade West Playground, Clacton Seafront, Essex
Tendring District Council approached Russell Play to fulfil a very specific brief for a new playground they were creating at Clacton Seafront. This request was to recreate play versions of two historic icons of the area, a helter-skelter and a boat, for the children to play on in the new park.

Consultation leads to interactive, inclusive play area
Children have been enjoying exhilarating, inclusive play opportunities at a park in Margate, Kent, which was developed following an extensive consultation with the public. Sutcliffe Play were challenged with replacing the playground at Northdown Park with equipment to cater for both toddlers and older children up to 12 years of age.

Fire station themed play area in Nottingham
The playful look of the new playground is inspired by the local fire station and budding firefighters and their families flocked to the opening event to discover a bespoke fire engine themed UniPlay structure complemented by a custom-made four-seater springers and other exciting features.

Victoria Park Splashpad, Cardiff
The new Splashpad incorporates a range of waterplay products from our nature and animal collection which pays homage to the zoo which once existed there. Furthermore, the focal point of this Splashpad is the colossal Supersplash No 2 which consists of a bucket and when full spills over creating a mini tidal wave.

Marine Road Central, Play Area, Morecambe Promenade
Russell Play was approached by Lancaster City Council to design a new play area as part of a refurbishment plan for Morecambe Central Promenade. The seaside resort has gone through many great improvements in recent years with some focus on the sea front and promenade for which the town is best known.

BMX Pump Track at Witton Park
Working with Blackburn with Darwen Council we have designed and built a small pump track to both encourage and challenge new riders. By small we mean the ride time! In fact the circuit is 50m long by 18m wide and has rollers and berms and a table top to launch from. Its great fun to ride and when you consider the play value, its cracking value! Pump tracks can be designed to fit space available and could be ideal for school grounds.

Colourful JungleMulch at Camberwell Green, Southwark

The impact of the bold colours of JungleMulch offer is even more stunning when used in a contrasting clear design and can really make the most out of feature kit.In 2016 we were asked to provide the surfacing for a particularly beautifully laid out park in Camberwell in London. Using a forest green base with autumn gold circles to accent the equipment and complimentary landscaping the surfacing really becomes a feature on this beautifully designed site.

Inclusive play area for Pavilion Gardens, Buxton
HAGS recently completed a new toddler play area at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton for High Peak Borough Council. The £70,000 project was funded via a £50,000 grant from the SITA trust and £20,000 from Section 106 money that High Peak Borough Council had already reserved.

Howard Park Waterplay Feature, Letchworth Garden City
This waterplay installation is a large meandering paddling pool with the addition of sprays, jets and bubblers to the shallow pools and along the length of the pool providing a more interactive play element. At the northern end two circles of 12 angled trajectory jet streams were introduced, the 24 jets provide a programmed display for play by day and are up lit at night by white LEDs to bring a touch of elegance to the area.

Double the fun in Devon!
Playdale Playgrounds were delighted to be awarded the winning tender contract for two Torbay Council projects in Brixham, Devon; Astley Park and Furzeham Green last year.Astley Park needed a brand new, fully rebuilt play area and Furzeham Green required some additional equipment for older children to accompany their existing Playdale Adventure Trail and Aerial Runway.

Williamson Park, Lancaster
Williamson Park’s two playgrounds needed a much deserved makeover following over 10 years of heavy use by an increasing amount of visitors to the popular destination park. With funding from the Council, and a £30,000 grant secured by volunteer group the Friends of Williamson Park from the Lancashire Environmental Fund, Sutcliffe Play was tasked with transforming the play areas, one for under 7’s and the other for under 12’s. It was important that the equipment used was in keeping with the graded listed nature of the grounds and nearby buildings.

Mayfield Park, Southampton – One Playground, Three Surfaces
RTC Safety Surfaces recently spent three weeks on site in Mayfield Park installing approximately 1,000m² and three types of surfacing on behalf of Kompan UK. Wet pour was used in the toddler area, Enviro-pave was used to create pathways and rubber mulch was used in other areas of the park. The surfacing included graphics such as cogs and clouds to compliment Spitfire themed play equipment.
