£150k Playground Built in 6 Days!!
The PlayFair Playscape was designed by the API Design Team (comprising of 4 leading 
play manufacturer’s) and incorporated 32 different products from 19 suppliers/sponsors. With only 6 days to build the whole area, precision planning and efficient installation were paramount to success… with a stroke of luck on the weather front also playing a part!
Playground Services project managed and constructed the area within budget and on time - with sweeping paths, sleeper trails, glacial boulders, planting, 16 play units, furniture 
and 7 types of surfacing it was quite a challenge.
The Playscape was enjoyed by the young visitors who were all over the place within seconds of arriving. The area got a positive reception and it was very interesting to see how different ages and sexes used the space and equipment differently. The ‘fallen trees’ and boulders made excellent lunch time seating and the waterplay was most popular in the heat… although it did cause a 
few ‘splash wars,!
The latest development in playground design is to include natural elements - this can be easily achieved and new innovative ideas are being used all the time. At Playground Services we are enjoying the challenge - sleeper mazes, tunnels, bridges, mounds, trees and rock mountains are all proving very popular and as an added bonus it means the use of recycled materials is increasing with excavated spoils being re-used and local reclamation 
materials being utilised.
It seems there is no limit to what can be achieved in the world of play these days, the wide variety of equipment available is staggering and the willingness of play providers to experiment is very exciting. Mixing traditional and new, man-made and natural elements, we are able to create innovative, cost effective play spaces for the whole community.
