Notts Sport set to make Childsplay big in Japan

Nursery children at Futaba Gakuen in Osaka enjoying the new
Notts Sport ChildsPlay area for the first time in Japan
Notts Sport, the leading synthetic surfacing supplier, has
entered the Japanese play market for the first time.
The company’s ChildsPlay system has been installed in a
free play area for nursery children at Futaba Gakuen in Osaka.
VHAF (Vertical Horizontal and Angular Fibres) textile underlay
and sand-filled artificial VHAF NottsSward turf, which make up the
system, were laid over the existing concrete play area.
The finished design comprises four colours, with a chequerboard
design on the carpet surface allowing a variety of games to be
played by the children.
Shaun Patrick, Chief Executive of Notts Sport, explains:
“We already had good links with the Far East through our
synthetic turf cricket pitch systems, and have been working
alongside the Asian Cricket Council to develop the game in
China.
“The feedback we have had since the play area’s
completion has been wonderful – children and staff at the
nursery are absolutely delighted with the new surface.
“As a result ChildsPlay has been used at four other
locations in the Osaka / Kyoto area we have already had several
enquiries about carrying out similar projects in Japan.”
ChildsPlay is ideal for use under and around play equipment, as
well as for creating a free play environment.
The surface comes in a palette of 15 colours offering endless
scope for patterns and shapes, from traditional playground games
such as hopscotch and mazes, to energetic ‘free play’
designs.
As well as creating a stunning visual landscape and tactile
environment children love, the system is quick-draining, eliminates
mud and worn grass, and has good levels of shock absorbency,
improving safety by offering critical fall heights of up to three
metres.
ChildsPlay can be installed as a new facility - or used to
refurbish an existing playground - and is equally at home on flat
surfaces or covering irregular mounds or slopes.
