Hand Made Places stand out in outdoor play
Hand Made Places, creator of innovative play scapes for learning
and fun, has picked up the Gold Award for outstanding stand design
and layout for the second year running at Saltex.
Visitors to this year’s exhibition were immediately drawn
to the two 9 foot tall dragons – one of the company’s
distinctive sensory structures - which provided the gateway to a
unique play setting of storytelling chairs, giant frog sculptures,
swan seats, sensory finger mazes and native leaf tables seats.

The award was sponsored by the Institute of Groundsmanship.
Siobhan Harper, of IOG said, “Judging was carried out on a
points system and Hand Made Places scored particularly high for
producing an inspirational and eye catching stand.”
Managing Director of Hand Made Places, Robin Ashfield said,
“We are delighted by this year’s response to our play
setting and especially being presented with the Gold Award for the
second year running. We recognise the intrinsic value of free play
for all children and we are pleased that our designs captured the
imagination of the judges.”
Hand Made Places’ holistic approach to play has earned
them several awards including the Education Resources Outstanding
Achievement Award in 2006.
