Sutcliffe Play design competition leads to a new dynamic range
Sutcliffe Play, designer and manufacturer of cutting edge playground equipment, has developed a new range of dynamic play equipment following an internal design competition.
Leading the way in designing children’s play equipment, Sutcliffe Play launched a design competition to all levels of staff, from the boardroom to the factory floor, to share their ideas for innovative and dynamic pieces of playground equipment.
The competition received over 25 entries from all levels in the company, many of which involved consultation with the entrants own children! The children inspired entries were then judged by international and national distributors and the sales team at an annual company conference. The winning designs inspired the new range.
Challenge and risk are two important elements of the fast and dynamic range that consists of five individual pieces, suitable for children from the age of five and up.
The Rock Spinner, a challenging rocking, rotator requires strength, balance and 
coordination to spin. The Quad Flyer focuses on the upper body, requiring strength to make it spin and can challenge up to four children at anyone time.
The most dynamic piece from the range is the Sling Shot, suitable for two different activities, a rope swing for sitting or standing and overhead handles for children to hang from and spin around.
Finally, Wipe Out and Wind Rider, these items replicate the motion of surfing or skateboarding. The equipment requires balance and lower body strength to rock and rotate, suitable for one child or more. The Wind Rider has a handle to make it accessible for younger children.
