API, supports new Design for Play guide
To support the launch of the new Design for Play guide jointly published by Play England, the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the API is delighted to confirm its members subscribe to the importance of designing sustainable, exciting and challenging play spaces.
The API is a trade body entering its 25th year of representing designers, manufacturers and installers of playground equipment and surfacing in the UK. Recognising the principles of the Design Guide, the API members look forward to providing inspirationally designed play spaces for children.
The new Design for Play guide advocates making use of natural elements to enhance the play value of playgrounds. The guide encourages an individual approach to each space, ensuring children a variety of high quality play experiences, in play areas that are both in harmony with and enhanced by their surroundings. This is a most welcome development to best practise API members who will often design free of charge whilst meeting safety standards and guidelines. (View members)
A Pre-Qualified, Quality Partner
As a condition of membership, API members, play manufacturers, designers and installers have to meet many of the standards demanded in pre-qualification by local authorities’ tendering processes. These include financial soundness, insurance and compliance with play safety standards, guidelines and best practice. API members also offer a wealth of experience in designing and installing play areas. It is what they do – every single day.
