Tony Blair accepted an invitation to open a fantastic new play facility at Trimdon Colliery on Friday 27th October 2006 .

Robert Goss, Managing Director of Kompan, addressed the Prime
Minister and invited him to take a close look at this
fantastic play facility which is a significant step forward from
the traditional 'swing parks' provided for children.
Sedgefield has made a 'fast-track plan to provide new and
refurbished facilities across its Borough.
In his brief speech Robert Goss stated that, "If current trends persist twenty percent of children will be classified obese by 2010. Open access play facilities encourage all children, not just those who enjoy sport, to exercise in the fresh air. Research suggests that children burn more calories while playing than they do participating in organised sport."
As well as exercise children and young adults learn social skills at the play area and their parents and carers get the opportunity to meet at a shared community facility," said Mr Goss.
Robert Goss, who is also the Marketing Chairman for the API
stated, "API members are ready to construct exciting open-access
play facility like the one at Trimdon. We need the energy and
commitment of Local Authorities across UK to make 2007 the year of
investment in outdoor play."
