FIRST EVER SCHOOL INSTALLATION OF EXCITING NEW NRG
RSS Playmakers has completed the first ever installation of its
innovative, new Trailblazer NRG system at a school. The Archbishop
Cranmer Church of England Community Primary School in Taunton,
Somerset, has joined an extensive list of public playgrounds which
have taken on the new system.
Trailblazer NRG has been awarded the prestigious BSI Kitemark
award which gives all users complete confidence in the high safety
levels. It was chosen by Archbishop Cranmer as a modern alternative
to timber play equipment, as it is manufactured from dramatic
structural steel and features distinctive arches and support posts.
The system has a streamlined and contemporary appearance and has
been specifically developed to address the motivational needs of
children and to encourage maximum activity and energy expenditure.
Unlike other 'play' equipment, it is ideal for developing
co-operation and team work and can be used in organised sessions as
part of the National Curriculum, indeed Archbishop Cranmer has
recently had an SASP coach on site to hold some ‘Outdoor
Education’ work with the children which links team work,
cooperation and trust and the new play equipment was used in some
of the lessons.
Children in Years 3-6 use the equipment at playtimes and
lunchtimes and Archbishop Cranmer School is currently considering
how Trailblazer NRG will fit in with the PE curriculum next term.
Tracy Crossman, Key Stage Two Coordinator, Archbishop Cranmer,
said: “The installation took place during the Easter holidays
this year. I was amazed at how quickly it was completed as it
only took about 3 to 4 days.”
“The Trailblazer NRG system has been extremely well
received by pupils - we have had one Year 4 boy declare: ‘I
wish I had this at home!’. We are currently considering how
the equipment might form part of the National Curriculum during
next term.”

Trailblazer by RSS Playmakers

Trailblazer NRG, which is based on a
‘trail system’ of linked activities, includes
twenty-one dynamic components offering a huge variety of different
configurations. The system demands greater concentration and
stamina due to the need for movement across and between the
challenges, and completing the trail gives children a great sense
of achievement.
RSS Playmakers’ Managing Director Peter Bullock explained
why they believe Trailblazer NRG will take other schools by storm.
He said: “With the Trailblazer NRG there is more activity,
more movement to and from the apparatus, and more energy used. Each
element of the trail tests children’s physical attributes
regardless of their abilities, encourages all-inclusive play,
accommodates more children than single structure play concepts, and
promotes teamwork through co-operative play.”
