The register is widely available to all organizations and individuals who require the services of such inspectors. Margaret Baker (nee Wardle) former Head of Membership for the API and who facilitated the setup of the RPII has now undertaken the very examinations established whilst she worked for the organization. Now a fully accredited RPII Operational Inspector along with colleague David Gent, Managing Director of Public Sector Software – the team have taken understanding of the software they sell, develop and support to a new level.

Public Sector Software who work with Local Authorities to provide inspection software primarily for playground and parks assets, along with a growing number of additional areas for which councils hold responsibility, have obtained an increased understanding of the realities of compliance with the standards such as BSN1176/77 and how inspections should be carried out on a day-to-day basis.

It also enables a better understanding of recording information relating to risk assessments enabling the provision of a full audit trail which would stand up in a court of law to provide the authority with protection against claims of negligence. On the surface the inspections process, especially when viewed inline with the PlaySafe software may appear simple, the reality is that to become competent, as required by the Standard, full training is essential and many more factors than may be immediately obvious are required to be checked and monitored to ensure a full and comprehensive inspection is undertaken.
