Playtop-DVD-Release

Playtop’s Marc Blamire
believes the DVD is the first to be released by a play surfacing
company January 2007
A DVD aimed at both specifiers and purchasers of outdoor play
surfacing has just been released by Playtop, the Newark and
Edinburgh-based wet-pour surfacing company.
It has been designed to help specifiers and purchasers
understand play surfacing better and to make more informed
decisions about surfacing types, quality of materials and
installation.
Probably the first of its kind to be released by a play
surfacing company, the DVD includes a section on how wet-pour
surfacing is installed, showing how you get from the initial rubber
granulate to the finished surface. Computer graphics and a
time-lapse camera are used to show the viewer in seconds how a
school playground went from black tarmac to a multi-coloured
surface, encompassing educational and fun graphics.
There is also a guide to the different types of play surfacing
available and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
For those who have an educational or environmental perspective,
the DVD shows how old commercial vehicle tyres are recycled to
create the rubber granulate used in impact-absorbing surfacing.
Commenting on the DVD, Playtop’s marketing manager, Marc
Blamire, said: “We’ve developed something that will be
of interest to a range of people, from teachers to architects. Its
aim was to be educational as well as informative and we believe
we’ve achieved this. If you need to buy or specify a play
surface it is most definitely worth a look.”
