European Record Set With Interative Splash Park
Sun Safe Play and Hippo Leisure Products have completed a
revolutionary new pirate themed, fully interactive splash park for
Flamingoland, Yorkshire which is currently the largest interactive
splash park in Europe.
Set in 375 acres in the North Yorkshire
countryside…children can now take full advantage of the
awesome summer addition to the popular attraction park.
The project was awarded by Nick Buckley of Flamingoland and led
by Greg Seale, Managing Director of Sun Safe Play Ltd.
Together with Andy Taylor of Hippo Leisure products, the flamboyant
pirate design was bought to life.
Covering an area of 1300 sq metres, a total of 38 interactive
water jets and themed features have been installed in a colourful,
vibrant surround. Bright palm trees with tipping coconuts
compliment rainbow arch features and splash jet technology.
The dedicated toddler area is home to an unique hopscotch pad where
children can chase the water jets up the hopscotch pad whilst
trying to keep their feet dry!
The innovative layout of the water jets cleverly surround the
impressive life-size Pirate Ship centrepiece. Themed canons
shoot soft columns of foaming water from the deck. Pressure
pads set into the floor trigger water jets from a crow’s nest
8 metres up on the ship’s mast.

At a whopping 10 metres long, the pirate ship was constructed
using Hippo’s unique soft-to-touch play system. This
technology was chosen for its water resistant, UV stable and
chemical resistant finish.
Finally the entire area was treated with an unique
anti-microbial protection system called Aquatrol to ensure the best
possible defence against the growth of bacteria, biofilm and other
algae related problems.
Now fully operationally, the Splash Park is welcoming new
visitors to Flamingoland.
