First National Conference - Play England
Places to Play - Working together for play-friendly public space
The first national Play England conference Wednesday, 11 October
2006 Queen Elizabeth II Centre, Westminster, London.
The definitive play event for 2006, Places to Play is the first
national conference from Play England, a project of the Children's
Play Council and the leading authoritative voice for the strategic
development of children's play. As well as looking at current
policy and practice in play provision: design, procurement and
delivery, Places to Play will focus on the importance of
considering the play and informal recreational needs of children
and young people within planning policy and frameworks.
Places to Play will bring planners, designers, landscape
architects, play practitioners, and procurement officers together;
sharing perspectives and experiences towards the common aim of
offering more and better places to play within all communities.
The programme will explore:
* Current policy and practice in play provision
* Design, procurement and delivery issues for play
* The importance of considering the play and informal
recreational needs of children
and young people within planning frameworks and open
space strategies
* Current developments on standards and performance management
in area-wide play
provision
