Duke Visits Playtop

His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent KG has made an official visit to Playtop Limited, unveiling a plaque at the company’s Newark headquarters to commemorate his visit.

The Duke of Kent KG, a cousin of the Queen, was accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir Andrew Buchanan Bt. They were welcomed by Charles Lawrence, chairman of both the Charles Lawrence Group and Playtop Limited, who introduced HRH to key personnel.

HRH was shown around the site, which included a demonstration of Playtop’s impact-absorbing properties.

Commenting, Charles Lawrence said: “He was fascinated by the environmental aspect of taking redundant commercial vehicle tyres and turning them into, amongst other things, surfacing for children’s playgrounds. The fact that we then export these surfaces around the world he thought was marvellous.”

Earlier this year Playtop Limited won a Queen’s Award for International Trade for increasing its exports by 150% over three years. The Duke of Kent’s visit was in further recognition of this award.
