Playforce Becomes Example of Business Excellence
Playforce, a Witlshire-based company that specialises in school
playground equipment, has been recognised for its high quality
products and excellent service by being awarded Beacon Company
status by the Government-backed organisation Beacon South West.
The company learned about the prestigious accolade after being
nominated by the South West Regional Development Agency.
Commercial Director of Playforce, Rachael Webb, who founded the
company with her husband, Edward, eight years ago using a
£5,000 grant from the Prince’s Trust, said the whole
company was honoured to achieve Beacon Company status.
“This gives us official recognition of the quality of
Playforce products and the service we provide,” she said.
“We become a focus for promoting good practice and
innovation.”
Beacon South West, which is supported by the South West Regional
Development Agency, brings together some of the area’s most
forward thinking and ambitious companies to promote success and
spearhead the growth of the region.
It is building a portfolio of the region’s 'Beacon'
companies, to which other businesses can look for leadership and
examples of significant business performance.
Beacon Company status is an award given to companies which can
demonstrate outstanding achievement across a range of criteria
including improved productivity and performance, positive change
management, successful business development, being passionate about
what the company does and a willingness to share knowledge and
experience with others.
"High growth, innovative businesses like Playforce underpin the
future prosperity of the region,” said Pete Manley,
enterprise adviser at SWRDA. “We are delighted that,
following our recommendation, Playforce has been awarded Beacon
status. This will give them a great opportunity to exchange
ideas and best practice with other like-minded businesses and that
is something that cannot be undervalued."
